TSP Launch
The Team Software ProcessSM (TSPSM) is the latest technology from the Software Engineering institute (SEI) to optimize project cost, schedule and quality. The TSP has been described as a Capability Maturity Model® (CMM®) Level 5 process for teams of Personal Software ProcessSM(PSPSM) trained engineers. AIS is an SEI transition partner for TSP services and uses only SEI authorized TSP Launch Coaches.
AIS provides a TSP Launch Coach to lead your project team through a highly compressed planning and team-building workshop. By following the TSP Launch Process, after less than one week the project team:
- Documents and validates business goals and objectives
- Defines the development strategy, defines the team's development process
- Builds a detailed top-down project plan
- Builds an optimized next phase plan
- Builds individual team member plans
- Builds a quality plan
- Conducts a risk assessment
At the conclusion of the launch, all members of the team are fully committed to the plan, and each team member understands their tasks and role on the project - from the very first day. After the launch, the AIS TSP Launch Coach reviews project data and consults with individual software engineers and the team leader to mentor the team in the use of the TSP and suggest process improvements. AIS then leads the team in one or more TSP Relaunches, if necessary.
The TSP enables organizations to make better commitments, reduce cycle time, and increase product quality. It empowers project teams to achieve maximum productivity as a whole, and optimum performance from each team member. The TSP is the most effective method for implementing the PSP because it provides an integrated framework for using PSP data. Cost is dependent on the scope of the launch.
