Process Snapshot

A Process Snapshot provides a preliminary assessment identifying an organization's software development process practices strengths and weaknesses and results in an action plan for improvement. A Process Snapshot employs a questionnaire to assess the performance of the organization's process relative to the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®). The snapshot captures what is actually being done on the projects.

AIS first conducts an orientation for the staff participating in the Process Snapshot. After participants from the organization complete the questionnaires, AIS prepares an analysis of the assessment and assists in the construction of an action plan working closely with individuals in the assessed organization. AIS reviews the assessment findings and action plan with appropriate stakeholders and management and presents the assessment findings and action plan to staff who participated in the Process Snapshot exercise.

A Process Snapshot provides valuable process information at a fraction of the cost of a formal assessment (12%) when an official CMMI Maturity or Capability Level Rating is not required. It also shows the organization how to conduct Process Snapshots to periodically monitor improvement progress and prioritize software improvement efforts. Cost is dependent on the scope of the assessment.
