Stephen Shook Appointed AIS President

    PEORIA, ILLINOIS · Advanced Information Services Inc. (AIS), a leading information technology firm based in Peoria, announces the appointment of Stephen Shook as its new President. Mr. Shook, a 14-year veteran of AIS, will assume his new position effective September 1, 2004.

    Stephen Shook has held several key management positions at AIS including Process Program Manager, Software Configuration Management Implementation Manager, Quality and Technical Support Manager, and Project Manager.
He began his career with AIS in 1990 as a Software Engineer after graduating from the University of Illinois. Mr. Shook has been authorized by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) as a Team Software ProcessSM (TSPSM) Coach and a Personal Software Process (PSPSM) Instructor. TSP and PSP are techniques developed by software guru Watts Humphrey and the SEI for managing quality, schedule, and effort to produce exceptional results in software development.

AIS is an employee owned corporation founded in 1986 by Girish Seshagiri. Mr. Seshagiri travels world-wide to speak on software process improvement. He is co-founder of the Heartland Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN), the Chicago SPIN and The Watts Humphrey Software Quality Institute (SQI). "The appointment of Steve Shook, a long term resident of Peoria, as President clearly demonstrates AIS' commitment to our local customers and high technology jobs in Central Illinois. I am proud to be associated with Steve who is a globally recognized TSP Coach, PSP Instructor and Process Manager. AIS employs 80 software professionals and has offices in Peoria, Alexandria, Virginia, and Chennai, India. The company gained international recognition when it received the 1999 Software Process Achievement Award given jointly by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and the Institute of Electronic & Electrical Engineers (IEEE). Proclaimed as the highest award in the software industry, AIS joined the ranks of NASA, Raytheon, and Hughes Aircraft, all prior recipients.

AIS customers include Caterpillar, Inc., Carrier Corporation, Microsoft, OSF Healthcare, Texas Instruments, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Treasury, and U.S. Navy.
