Mini-Assessment

A Mini-Assessment provides a baseline of organizational strengths and weaknesses and results in recommendations for process improvement priorities and next steps. A Mini-Assessment evaluates the extent to which the organization's process documentation and practices satisfy the specific and generic practices of the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®).

AIS considers the same factors and applies many of the same techniques as a formal assessment (SCAMPISM), incorporating both interviews and document review. Based on this input, AIS identifies strengths and weaknesses for each specific and generic practice within the CMMI. AIS works closely with the sponsor to jointly determine process improvement priorities and next steps. AIS then reviews the assessment findings and action plan with appropriate stakeholders and management and presents the results to staff who participated in the Mini-Assessment.

A Mini-Assessment provides a clear direction for process improvements, providing a process analysis at a fraction of the cost of a formal assessment (20%) when an official CMMI Maturity or Capability Level Rating is not required. Cost is dependent on the scope of the assessment.
