"If you don't know where you are, a map won't help" - Watts Humphrey. It is difficult to plan process improvement if you don't know what is currently in place. An assessment identifies what is in place.

"If you don't know where you are going, any path will do." - Chinese Proverb. The Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) provides a process model for organizational improvement. An action plan is created to map the activities needed to take an organization from where they are to where they would like to be in process maturity.

AIS offers 3 CMMI assessment types each varying in focus and/or depth to meet the organization's needs. The assessments are instrumental in determining an organization's process capability against the CMMI standard.
